If there's one thing that grinds my gears about the TRO's, it's when the design doesn't match the artwork. And don't even get me started about not matching the minis... :angry:

And besides, sometimes ideas just happen. I was flipping through TRO3067 looking for something, and next thing I knew I was typing this out. I don't even remember what I was looking for... :-?

Anyway, this Mech is a nasty little light harasser for the Cappies and Canopians. Hope y'all like it.

==Overview:==
The ABS-4C Anubis is the latest variant of this advanced light Mech to be produced at Detroit by the Magistracy of Canopus. It apears to be built to higher standards than previous variants, which were notorious for slipshod quality and high maintenance requirements. Given that the new Anubis clearly shows even more Capellan influence than previous models, and that it is also used by the CCAF, it is likely that Capellan engineers were involved in bringing the quality control at Detroit closer to Capellan standards.

==Capabilities:==
The ABS-4C Anubis is broadly similar to earlier models in construction, but its overall quality of workmanship is much improved. It is as fast as previous models, but has better defenses and an improved arrangement of weapons.

The ABS-4C Anubis is designed to be a swift harasser Mech. It carries two LRM-5's with a single two-ton ammo bin, and is usually loaded with a mix of standard and minelaying missiles. Two ERML's serve for close work, and provide a measure of endurance that was missing from earlier models. Defenses are improved with an extra ton of Capellan stealth armor, and CASE for the ammo bin.

==Deployment==
The ABS-4C Anubis is being deployed by the CCAF's Shadow Lances, where it fights beside the Sha Yu and new Reseen designs.

The MAF is replacing previous variants of the Anubis with the ABS-4C on a one for one basis. Those older variants are being "recycled" back to the factory on Detroit, and refitted to the new standard. This practice has allowed the MAF to deploy the new Anubis faster than production alone would allow.

The Taurian Concordat still has a fair number of older model Anubis Mechs. Rumors say that the Concordat has successfully reverse engineered the Capellans' stealth armor, and is researching ways to upgrade its own Anubis inventory.

The Colonial Marshals want to upgrade their Anubis inventory, but are trapped between the Magistracy and Concordat. Without their help, the Marshals may not be able to maintain the cranky Anubis, let alone upgrade it.

Nice change. The medium lasers actually make it useful for something other than long-range harassment. The original Anubis was kind of a silly design... and yeah, it bugs me when the design doesn't match the artwork, too. (Like the medium laser placement on the Cicada...)

ECM + ERSL = 2 tons = 1 (ER)ML in each arm, fitting the artwork

The fluff we got can be read like there was a revision of the design after the Trinity Alliance was formed, so...

Doesn't the fluff for the Anubis state that the same assembly for the weapon arm was used in the other arm, giving its appearance?

I mean as silly as it is, atleast it trys to account for it unlike a lot of other designs.

Doc: Yes it does. But then, it also shows two missile racks on the Mech instead of the four in the design.

I used the fluff for the Sha Yu as inspiration. The variant Sha Yu uses an LRM 5 go scattering mines all over...I figured this fast little bugger could do much the same thing.
