They had already designed, and produced, one with their upgrade of the venerable Maxim just prior to the invasion of Luthien. Looking at the requirements put forth by the SLDF Scarborough believed that only slight modifications were needed. However, when it came to actually incorporating those changes, a whole new design process was required. The designers felt that the required design changes, and the intended end user, justified designating this as a new class of vehicle. Reaching back into Japanese myth for a name, they chose Susanoh, an exiled god comparable to the Greek Posiden, who destroyed the Japanese version of the Hydra. They also found that in order to incorporate a C-3 Slave unit, and the higher armor level requirments, a slight downgrading of the turret mounted weaponry was nessasary. The TAG unit, and both extended range medium class lasers were removed. Only one was laser was reinstalled into the front to allow for a smalller turret to increase arnor levels. the TAG was replaced with a Matabushi Citizen C-3 Slave unit.
