One of these was the BL9-KNT Black Knight. Its design features impressed the Word of Blake and Free Worlds League technicians. Plans were drawn up for a mech of similar function, designed on a somewhat lighter chassis. The designer's intent was to supplement their new Vanquisher design with a manuverable mech with much hitting power for its size; utilizing the most advanced weaponry that the WoB and the FWL could provide. This mech would be able to support the slower moving assault class mech, but still be able to handle itself on its own. Word of Blake engineers researched numerous designs utilizing some form of melee weapon. They also delved into over 300 years of 'Mech design theory and, hopefully, gleaned the best features of several designs to incorporate into the LeSabre. Word of Blake technicians believe they have designed a rock solid weapons platform capable of the multi-role battlefield of the thirty-first century.<Word of Blake technicians attempted to boil down the Black Knight design into its purest parts. This has produced a compact, yet very effective weapons platform. Great thought was put into a design that shared many of the same components and capabilities of the Vanquisher, that it was designed to support. Primary weaponry consists of one Corean Light Gauss Rifle giving the LeSabre a powerful long range punch with good ammunition capacity. However, where the LeSabre really shines is at medium to close ranges. Three Diverse Optics Medium Lasers supplemented by a Holly Hellfire Streak-6 SRM rack provide a close in strike capable of downing most 'Mechs in it's weight class and severly damaging heavier designs. One feature that the Word of Blake technicians were intrigued by was the blade-like melee weapon found on the orignal ComStar Black Knight. This feature was incorporated into the design of the LeSabre. Weapons configuration was also highly influenced by another Word of Blake 'Mech, the Buccaneer. The combonation of features from these two designs bore fruit in the LeSabre. The LeSabre is able to fire all of it's weapons in an alpha strike and is still able to deliver the coup de grace with its melee weapon. Triple Strength Myomer, along with ten standard heat sinks increase the damage potential during close quarter battle, while 13.5 tonnes of Aldis Plate armor provides tremendous protection for its weight class. In accordance to the Word of Blake's new warfare strategy, a Skobel Wave III Comm Improved C3 communications system is standard. §The LeSabre has only recently completed its initial trials with the Word of Blake Militia. Plans are to deploy the mech at HPG's along the Lyran and Capellan borders.ÍTo date, Word of Blake technicians have produced one variant of the LeSabre. The L4-SBR replaces the Triple Strength Myomer, and single heat sinks with 10 double strength 'freezer' heat sinks. This allowed the up-gunning of one of the medium lasers with a Diverse Optics Sunbeam II Extended Range Large Laser to supplement the Light Gauss Rifle; all but doubling the LeSabre's long range punch. This version comes at the cost of about 2.5 tonnes of armor.ÔPrecentor Epsilon VIII Michaleus Rex is said to have taken a personal interest in the design of this 'Mech. He has put forth considerable amounts of personal capital to aid the LeSabre's design and construction.åThe LeSabre is being slowly deployed with the Word of Blake's 11th Division 'Light of Truth' under the command of Precentor Epsilon VIII Michaleus Rex. A scant few have been offered to the Free Worlds League military for trials.iFluff text under construction.
