This is due to the fact that the Keiler is an unmanned clearer, with the crew directing the Keiler safely from a distance. Though compatible with virtually any drone controlling station, the Keiler is most often teamed with the M1071 Dakota Heavy Transport and M009 Trailer, working with three other Keiler Minesweepers. The M980 Keiler Minesweeper is a 20-ton vehicle, making use of a wide, tracked chassis. The front of the Keiler uses the standard dual drum flailing device, for clearing both anti-tank and anti-personnel mines. Each drum features forty flails, which are strong enough to destroy mines and low scrub and brush. Should a flail become damaged, it can easily be replaced in the field. The pair of drums are mounted on hydraulic lifts, allowing the controller to position the drums and flails to match the terrain. When not clearing, the drums can be retracted upwards and stored on the dorsal surface. The M890 Keiler has six and a half tons of armor plating, with the majority mounted on the front. The Keiler makes use of CHI's own 80 Multi-Fuel Engine, allowing it to run on anything that will burn at speeds nearing 65 kph. The remote system is mounted in a rear, armored compartment. Armored visor blocks at the front along with terrain sensors allow the operator to receive a vehicle's eye view of the operation. kSome Keilers that served with the Star League made use of Ferro-Fibrous armor, increasing the protection. ÿÿCaterpillar Heavy IndustriesVariousCHI Multi-Fuel ArmorGuardMotorola VLF-12 Drone-7 Remote Operating System[ none ]
