Until resources to maintain the advanced Lubalin Ballistics 10-X Autocannon and the Artemis IV FCS the 'Mech stayed in its original configuration. During the Sucession Wars the mech devolved and was re-designated the CHP-KS1 Champion by its then cuttent owner Patrick Keys-Shumar. as the KS1 it carried a standard Autocannon 10 and also went without the advanced fire control system for it's SRM 6 launcher. During the Technological revolution following the discovery of the Helm memory core and the Clan invasion the Champion recieved some upgrades which included an Ultra Autocannon. Which was destoyed in the late 3050s and replaced with a ER PPC to allow the Mech to stay in a firefight longer. Some later modifications were done by the government of the Federated Suns after the civil war which included ER Medium Lasers and a Targeting Computer for bravery above and beyond the call of duty during the battle of New Avalon by James Keys-Shumar, though some would contend that it was because the Keys-Shumars are one of the last noble Mechwarior families in existance. A few months later the SRM6 was replaced with an advanced Streak SRM 4 when the SRM 6 system was destroyed in a battle with an unknown force near the Chaos March. The Streak system was also acquitred through unknown channells though it is suspected that it was bought on the black market. ‘This particular Champion has had many re-incarnations in its lifetime. In its current form the CHP-KS2A Champion is capable of performing its intended role better then ever as a heavy advance scout, though it is used more as a skirmisher and command 'Mech by James. The twin ER Medium Lasers give the Champion good short to medium range hitting power when combined with the Guided Technologies 2nd Gen Streak SRM 4 launcher. also because of the lighter weight of the Blackenberg PPC as compared to the older Lubalin autocannon a targeting computer makes shot groupings extremely accurate and makes the CHP-KS2A an incredible sniper if the situation arises. ŽThis 'Mech has seen action in all 4 of the succesion wars, faced the Clans on several occasions, The most recent notable action though was on the world of New Avalon where a mercenary command loyal to Victor Stiener-Davion known as the Confederate Suns, a unit made of ex-patriate Federated Suns soldier ans led by James Keys-Shumar who had been stripped of his small landhold on New Avalon by Katherine Stiener-Davion, dropped on planet 3 weeks before the invasion of New Avalon came. During this time most of the command was killed. But in that time they set up rebel groups and destroyed as much of the Loyalist command and logistics as could be done. uCharles James Keys (2756 - 2777) - Charles was the first private owner and the first noble of what was to become the Keys-Shumar line. He served with distinction with the Avalon Hussars during the Border War. He retired in 2777 and his Mech pased to his daughter Angel Keys-Shumar begining the Keys-Shumar line. Patrick Keys-Shumar (2863 - 2886) - Patrick was the MechWarrior in the family that was forced to downgrde it's weaponry, The supplies had dwindled away and drastic actions were neded to keep the Champion in working order. He had his family techs remove what was left of the old Artemis IV FCS and also had the old Lubalin Ballistics Autocannon removed and replaced by a Ceres Arms T Autocannon/10 imported from Menke. James Keys-Shumar (3053 - Current) - James recieved the hnor of piloting the Champion after his brother Timothy had purchased his own Mech in 3055. Tim decided he wanted a Mech with a real punch and not some old warhorse that was falling apart. (Editor's Note - Timmothy Keys-Shumar is believed to have been killed while fighting Clan Jade Falcon forces during a raid in 3054, though his body has never been re-covered, passing both the family landhold and title to his brother James) James gladly accepted the Champion and immediately had it sent to Henderson Armamnts Inc for a full repair. The mech he got back wasnt in pristine condition but it looked and operated better then it had in ages.
