Under the request of the AFFC admiralty to build a non-warship class vessal that could be expected to survive initial strikes where less armored jumpships would be too quickly disabled to successfully carry out assigned tasks. With over one hundred and fifty tons of Lamellor Ferro-carbide armor, the Ambassador fills this niche, being able to withstand strikes from enemy aerospace forces at near capitol weapon scale. Complimenting the ships thick armor are several point defense lasers, anti-missile systems, and a massive fighter bay capable of holding an entire squadron of aerospace fighters. Should the vessal incounter an over whelmingly large opposition, it can safetly retreat to safety via its lithium fusion batteries. If an enemy force does manage to successfully defeat all the vessals primary defenses and board the ship, four battle-armored infantry lances stand ready to repel any such attack. Originally named the Ironclad, the vessal's name was changed shortly before its christening in 3069 to reflect the feeling of awe that the Galax shipyard project manager said to have felt after staying in one of the twenty luxurious state rooms. The ship's bridge and other passenger areas were also designed to be appealing making the Ambassador look more like a cruise ship than that of a military transport. All the Ambassador's features come at no small cost however. At nearly 1.2 billion C-bills and the capability of transporting only two dropships, it is likely that only a small number of these vessals will be built. In April of 3070, the F.C.S. Brimmond validated the theory of the ships design when attacked after jumping into the Armington system. Nearly two squadrons of pirate aerospace fighters lay hidden in a debris field near the sytems zenith jumpoint, waiting for easy prey. When the Brimmond arrived, the pirates sprang thier trap, immediately attacking the vessals still deploying jumpsail and lengthy hull section housing the ship's Kearny Fuchida drive. The jumpship survived five waves of aerospace attacks before the vessal's navigation computer completed new jump coordinates and successfully retreated from the system. Though the ship's jumpsail was destroyed, the vessal was not seriously damaged in an attack that would have left many other vessal in ruin.)There are no known varients at this time. The bulk of the AFFC Ambassador fleet are stationed near the chaos march, with several picketing supplies to high risk areas in the outer reaches of the F-C.7Source: Custom Fluff and Design entered by Jon Xedis (Unknown) (Unknown) (Unknown) (Unknown) (Unknown) (Unknown) (Unknown) (Unknown)[ none ]
