Overview:
This bizarre Mech was built as a test bed for
research into XXL engine shielding materials. Although
there are no real practical applications for such a
design the scientists wanted the largest possible engine
size to explore the limits of the new materials being
tested.
Capabilities:
The design is little more than a walking engine, not
even mounting any armour, just covered in lightweight
bodywork with so many large access panels to make any
engineer envious. The only outstanding feature is the
massive 475-rated engine, which weighs an incredible 81
tonnes, more than most Battlemechs! Despite its large
size the MTP is capable of reaching almost 100 kph with
its triple strength myomer activated, coupled with the
jump packs mounted the scientists are able to place a
varying degree of stresses on the engine shielding as
would be experienced by a Battlemech in combat. The
small cockpit can best be described as functional, but
it came equipped with a variable range targeting
computer (A remnant from the prototype Locust from which
the cockpit was borrowed) which is wasted on the MTP,
which only mounts a salvaged Clan ER Micro Laser. This
tiny weapon is used by the Mechwarriors as an aid in
managing heat levels to keep the TSM at optimum
performance but otherwise has no real use. The MTP has
also been equipped with the latest ECM suite to help
keep design and research secrets, secret.
