Data Files for Programs
Continuing the tradition of making all data files for the HeavyMetal programs
available for download, for free, you will find over three thousand data files
below, grouped by program, and separated into zip files by record sheet book.
The files are all zipped, in order to reduce file and download size, and help
prevent corruption of the data.
Be Notified of Data File Updates
While we like you checking back here often, by signing up for the HeavyMetal
Group Newsletter, we'll notify you. In addition, you'll receive news
about new HeavyMetal products, web site changes and more. Please check out the
HeavyMetalPro Newsletter and Group, and sign
up.
Data File Change Log
We've added a separate page for logging data file changes, so you know what
has changed when. With this permanent record (for the future, especially),
you'll be able to better decide what files you need and what you might have
missed. Just check out the Data File Change Log Page.
Custom
Weapon/Equipment Data Files for Total Warfare
While the current HeavyMetal programs do not completely support all of the
new equipment, Leon Shirow has generously supplied custom weapons files for all
of the programs, making it possible to design using all of the latest equipment.
These files are installed using an single automated setup program, which can
update all of your HeavyMetal programs at once, or you can choose which
to update. Download the setup program here:
Custom Weapons Files for
All Programs, Rev 2 - Added 01/07/2012 Note: The above program requires that you run
as an Administrator on your computer.
New -
RUS Data Files
Even more additional RUS (Random Unit Selector) data
files are being made available. Adding to the considerable number of data files
included with the program, the latest files include tables from the latest
sources, as well as
Total Warfare. So check out the new
RUS Data Files. And if you're not already familiar with
RUS, please go to the RUS Features
Page for more information.
HeavyMetal Map Files
HeavyMetal Map is a good bit different than the other programs in the
HeavyMetal series, so we've made a HeavyMetal Map
Additional Graphics web page, where we and other users of the program can
have their map designs, graphics and artwork, and even entire palettes, posted
to be download and used by others with the program. If you haven't already taken
a look at HMMap, please go to the HMMap Features
Page for more information.
Combat
Equipment ProtoMech Designs
The new Combat Equipment book has a bunch of new ProtoMech and Battle Armor
designs. The Battle Armor designs were included with HMBA from its introduction,
but we now also have the new ProtoMech designs available for HMLite (the new BA
designs are included with the HMLite program update). The files include 16 data files and
8 high-quality pictures. They are organized in four separate zip files.
See
below for the files.
TR
3026r Lost Designs
The Revised edition of Technical Readout 3026 added a new section of Lost
Designs, early designs, some of which pre-date the Star League era, which can
still occasionally be found. The files include 24 data files (18 HMAero files
and 6 HMVee files) and 19 high-quality pictures (15 aero designs, and 4 vehicles
or VTOLs). They are organized in four separate zip files.
See
below for the files.
All
Data Files with Correct Factions
All 'Mech and vehicle data files have been revised to have up to date faction
usage. In addition, some typos and naming inconsistencies were changed. Thanks
to James C. Lillian II for entering all the faction information. If you now find
any incorrect faction information, please let me know, and James and I will
resolve it.

Combination Data File Zips
You can now download all 'Mech or vehicle data files at one time, with
a single zip file that contains all the individual files, organized by
directories. See
below for the combo zip.
Credits - Thanks for All That Help!
Since the credits section has gotten about as long as the data file listings,
I've moved all the credits to the bottom of this screen. This does not diminish
in any way the hard word and long hours spent by all of you who have helped over
the years. I just thought it would be better if put all in one place. So, please
take a look at the Credits Section, and thank
these people for all their support!
Using These Files
To use these files, simply click on the link to download each file, and
choose to save to your computer, in a known area (I like to make a directory
C:\Download and put all my downloads there, so I know where to find them). After
saving, double click on the file to extract the data files from the zip file.
By downloading the files below, purchasers of the separate programs like
HeavyMetal Pro can have all of the data files included with HeavyMetal Plus.
If you don't have a zip/unzip program such as
WinZip or
PKZip, you can download a free utilities like
Zipper and
WinRAR (no, it's not named after me
).
The data files are separated into five groups:
BattleMechs, Vehicles,
ProtoMechs, AeroSpace Vessels and
RUS (Random Unit Selector) Data Files .
There are four separate zip files for these designs, so that those needing
only these new designs can add them without downloading the large zips. The
files include:

The following HeavyMetal Pro data files include all those provided with
HeavyMetal Plus, and total almost 3,000. You can unzip them into your \Mechs

Note: I am no longer allowed to provide MechWarrior: Dark Age designs.
These designs can now be downloaded from
PRI,
however, including many unique designs as well as pictures.
A Note about Project Phoenix designs:
The designs published in Tech Readout: Project Phoenix had already been included
in Record Sheets: 3067 and Record Sheets: Upgrades. Those designs are not
changed. However, new fluff text is now included from TRO: Project Phoenix. To
do that, the zip files for 3067 and Upgrades have been updated with the new
designs. In addition, a separate file has been included above for all of the
Project Phoenix designs, so if you have already downloaded or have the 3067 and
Upgrade files, you don't need to download them again; you can just download the
Project Phoenix files. There are new pictures of the Project Phoenix designs,
however, so those are included in a separate file.
All Vehicles (562 of them)
listed below can now be downloaded in a single 0.9 MB file
(updated 05/14/2005), which contains the all of the vehicle data files,
organized into directories. You can unzip them into the same directory structure
used in HMPlus, or place them all in a single directory. If you download this
file, you don't need to download the individual Vehicle zip files below unless
they change.
The following HeavyMetal Vee data files include all those provided with
HeavyMetal Plus, and total over 560. You can unzip them into your \Vehicles
directory, or keep them separate and organize them as desired.

selection needs. From selecting 'Mechs for Saturday's game using the latest,
published selection tables, to determining hit locations, RUS can do it all. And
if it can't, you can make it do it yourself. If you don't already have
RUS, please go to the RUS Features page, where you can see more information and
download the program. The following RUS data files can be added to your

I don't have everyone listed who have helped over the years, but here are at
least some of them: RUS (Random Unit Selector) Data Files
Thanks
to Aaron "Bear" Gregory for a huge number of files from various sources.
Basically, all of the added files above are thanks to his great work!
TR 3026 Revised Edition Lost Designs
Thanks
to Karl Vogelheim and Chris "Daeceg" Friede for the data
files, and Terry FitzSimons for the pictures. The delay in getting these files
available was my fault, not theirs.
Correct Factions in 'Mech and Vehicle Files
Thanks
to James C. Lillian II for entering all the faction information. This should
include the latest published information concerning usage. If you now find
any incorrect faction information, please let me know, and James and I will
resolve it.

Data Files for Pro, Vee and Aero from Stardate Magazine
Thanks to Johannes Heidler for providing data files for these seldom-seen
designs.

Data Files and Pictures for Combat Equipment ProtoMechs
Thanks to Dave Hill for providing both the data files and pictures from the
new Combat Equipment book!

Data Files for Record Sheets: Project Phoenix
Thanks to Josh "Maverick" Helton for adding the
fluff text to these files, including equipment manufacturers and models!

Data Files for Record Sheets: Dark Age
Many thanks to Terry "fitzsimons_tj"
FitzSimons, Chris "Krzysztof" Highe, Rod Klatt, Eberhard "Rote Baron" v.
Massenbach, Tim "Malanu" Piazzi, Nolan "Discord" Wells and Cory Zimmerman for
their help researching, entering and checking these files. A special thank you
to Terry, who spearheaded the project, and spent an enormous amount of time (and
money) to obtain most of the fluff. Thanks
guys, for a job well done!
Since my
agreement with WizKids does not allow me to provide any MechWarrior: Dark Age
designs or information, these files and others can now be downloaded from
PRI.
